Merry Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas Everyone!! Thanks for stopping by this year and reading my blog. Hope to have more to say in the new year but in the meantime I wish you all a very relaxing and safe holiday break!

I thought Id leave you with this greeting inspired by all the lovely wooden Nutcracker toys I have seen in the shops lately! - Hope I get one for Christmas :)

See you soon..

Album Launch

Just in time for Christmas my friends from The Sing Songs have launched their album 'These are the End Times'. I had great fun taking their photos and creating the design for their CD packaging. You can buy the digital album or purchase the CD here

A Glimpse of Gore

Next stop was a little town called Gore (which is south west of Dunedin). For some reason Gore has a bad reputation for being boring and a bit rugged - I actually found it to be quite a quaint town with lovely historic buildings, beautiful deer parks and gardens, a dancing Kea in the town aviary, great little cafes and the smell of cooked oats :) - from the Thistle factory. Gore historically was a valuable trade route and food gathering site back in the early 19th century and sits on the banks of the Mataura River, it has a history of illicit whiskey making and even has a Moonshine museum dedicated to the stories behind this practice.

We travelled a few times north of Gore to a township called Mandeville for lunch at a lovely restaurant called The Moth - which sits on the edge of an air field and has a museum and restoration workshop dedicated to tiger moth planes and old steam trains.

This seems as good a time as any to mention one of my favourite illustrators 'Edward Gorey'.. just because :)

On Tour - Nelson

More adventures in Nelson! Good times and sunny days. Found a great antique shop called 'Eclectic' where I happened to purchase a few little friends. I found the library to be a great place to work in and lots of interesting architecture to ponder. Rather strange that the council buildings in Nelson have what looks like a ticking bomb attached to their building..?

On Tour - past adventures

I've been on tour around parts of the south island (of NZ) with my husband for his work - hence the lack of blogging. Here are a few snaps of our adventures.. Blenheim was our first stop after a rather peaceful ferry ride from wellington to picton.
